Membership in the Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) Initiative

Convinced that corporate activities generate not only economic and financial impacts but also non-financial ones — and recognizing the growing importance of ESG practices and reporting in investment decisions — the Tunis Stock Exchange joined the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) Initiative on October 25, 2015.

Launched in 2009, this initiative now brings together more than 100 stock exchanges worldwide. Its mission is to explore ways of fostering collaboration among financial markets, investors, regulators, and companies with a dual objective: improving transparency regarding environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues, and promoting responsible short- and long-term investment.

ESG Reporting Guide

The Tunis Stock Exchange ESG Reporting Guide presents the principles of the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) Initiative and explains the basic concepts and usefulness of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and ESG Reporting approach. It also provides practical recommendations for implementation while allowing companies sufficient flexibility to reflect their specific priorities and characteristics.

It is intended for board members, executives, and managers of listed companies, as well as for stakeholders (auditors, employee representatives, shareholders, investors, etc.). The guide aims to highlight the value of ESG reporting — for the companies themselves, for their stakeholders, and for society as a whole.

The guide proposes an indicator matrix for a progressive extra-financial reporting approach covering environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects. It is based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) recommendations, the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and their national adaptation through the National Governance Framework (RNG).
